Travel to beautiful China is a life time experience!

China's tourism industry is one of the fastest-growing industries in the national economy and is also one of the industries with a very distinct global competitive edge. The booming tourism industry has made China the biggest domestic tourist market in the world, and the largest source of tourists in Asia, establishing its position as a big tourism country in the world. According to statistics from the World Tourism Organization (WTO)'s 2004, 41.8 million people visited China in 2004.
Increasing commercial activity between China and the West has drawn businessmen to China, not only for business but for pleasure as well. And friendly prices for accommodations and food compared with Western destinations has also helped raise China's standing.
Thanks to its vast territory, beautiful landscapes, long history, and splendid culture, China is a place for explorers to experience a diverse culture. Plus, intact natural beauty and rural scenery make for a unique and distinct destination for foreign explorers. There are 99 state-class historical and cultural cities, 750 national-class cultural relics and places of historical interest under key government protection, and 119 major scenic spots, 19 of which are listed as world Natural and Cultural Heritages.
In recent years, new attractions have been marketed by the Chinese government to draw more tourists, including historical sites and rural areas where minority populations are living. Travel to China can be a life time experience and a better way to understand China. Only when you are there, you may start to appreciate and understand what a difference to live in a nation with a population of 1.3 billion..
The long history and brilliant culture of China can be retraced in the ancient ruins and relics. Ancient cities of Beijing, Xi'an, Nanjing, Luoyang, Kaifeng, Hangzhou, and Anyang are the seven ancient capitals, and people can follow the traces of Confucius, Qin Shihuang, and Genghis Khan to admire the extensive and profound Chinese culture.
China has long been known for its beautiful landscapes. Some of the most famous are the Lijiang River in Guilin, the Five Mountains, the Three Gorges along the Changjiang River, and the water scenes in southern China. The noted tourist attractions include Mount Huangshan in Anhui Province, Mount Emei in Sichuan Province, the Huanggoushu Waterfall and Limestone Caves in Guizhou Province, the Stone Forest in Yunnan Province, the Grasslands in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and the frost-covered trees in Jilin Province in winter.
China's folklore is especially attractive. There are more than 40 yearly festivals. And every ethnic minority group has its own festivals. China is also famous for its special arts such as Beijing Opera, acrobatics, songs and dances, and calligraphy and painting.
China's many fine ports and coastal areas along the coastline are choice destinations for vacationers. The country has established a number of national holiday resorts, Thus offering more choices for vacationers.
With the approaching of the 2008 Olympics in China, the number of tourists is predicted to grow on a much larger scale.

What is the UAB Mesothelioma Clinic?

The UAB Mesothelioma Clinic is a component of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, which provides complete care for mesothelioma patients, including diagnosis, treatment and supportive care services. The Clinic is committed to improving the outlook for mesothelioma patients through novel clinical trials and the education of patients about the disease. The Mesothelioma Clinic Director, Francisco Robert, M.D., is a Medical Oncologist with specific expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer and mesothelioma.
What does the Mesothelioma Clinic provide?
Dr. Robert has a team of Cancer Center staff with expertise in surgery, radiation therapy, pathology, radiology, social services, and nursing who are available to provide their special expertise as appropriate. Dr. Robert provides the initial patient assessment and consultation with appropriate review of pathology slides and x-rays, confirmation of the diagnosis, selection of additional studies if needed and recommendations for treatment and supportive care. Depending on the extent of disease and the patient's general health, treatments may include surgery, radiation and/or chemotherapy. It is important that patients consider participating in a clinical trial, which may make additional treatments available. Supportive care may be an important component in the management of mesothelioma patients.
What is Mesothelioma?  Mesothelioma is an aggressive form of cancer in which cells of the mesothelium (the membrane that covers and protects most of the internal organs) become abnormal, form tumors and grow without control or order. The disease usually affects the surface of the lung or less commonly the lining of the abdomen. The disease is relatively uncommon, with 2,500 to 3,000 new cases diagnosed in the United States each year.
Are there specific risk factors for developing mesothelioma?  Working with asbestos is the major risk factor for mesothelioma. Approximately 80% of mesothelioma is associated with asbestos exposure - specifically occupational asbestos exposure. However, the disease has been reported in some individuals without any known exposure to asbestos.

About Mesothelioma Lawyers

Mesothelioma is a disease that, until recently, was extremely rare. To date, little is know about the condition. However, as the rate of the disease has increased, a new breed of lawyers – those dealing specifically with mesothelioma lawsuits – have stepped in to fight for the rights of victims afflicted with this disease. These lawyers and law firms often deal exclusively with mesothelioma victims and their families who wish to claim compensation from the companies that were responsible for their exposure to asbestos. These mesothelioma lawsuits often result in millions of dollars for the victims when handled by an experienced lawyer or law firm.
Those who have been diagnosed with mesothelioma have every right to file a lawsuit. Many of the companies responsible for exposing workers to asbestos were well aware of its dangers and effects, but still saw fit to let their workers continue with little or no protection against the dust and fibers that emanated from this hazardous material. Now, decades later, the effects of this exposure is taking its toll on American workers just as they reach their golden years. These workers are entitled to compensation and justice for their pain, suffering and loss of life. A mesothelioma lawsuit can provide them with such justice.

The number of lawyers and law firms handling these lawsuits is on the rise. Many of these lawyers have dealt with numerous mesothelioma lawsuits and have a good deal of experience and knowledge about the disease. Those looking for a mesothelioma lawyer should chooser someone that has proven experience in the field. Most reputable lawyers will be happy to provide facts and figures on previous cases that they have handled. However, these lawyers often do not provide private information that might be subject to confidentiality. They can, however, provide you with details on how quickly cases were resolved, how much compensation was successfully obtained and how many mesothelioma lawsuits they have dealt with.
It is also worth finding out about the mesothelioma lawsuits that were not successful, and why they were not successful. It may be something as simple as a missed piece of evidence to failure to comply with sensitive timetables associated with such cases. These elements can make the difference between a successful and an unsuccessful lawsuit. By finding out why some lawsuits resulted in no compensation, you may be able to avoid making the same type of mistake.
It is important that you find a good, experienced mesothelioma lawyer as soon as possible after you have been diagnosed with the disease. Most states have a set time limit in which you can file your lawsuit, and it is very important that you not miss that deadline known as a statute of limitations. Otherwise you may find that you are ineligible to make a claim. You also need to give your lawyer as much time as possible to do the necessary research and put together a solid and case against the negligent parties. In short, the earlier you get to a mesothelioma lawyer, the better your chances of success.
Many people are concerned because they do not know exactly where and when they were exposed to asbestos. Some people may have worked in several different places and been exposed to asbestos on numerous occasions. However, your mesothelioma lawyer can help in identifying products that you were exposed to. If necessary, your mesothelioma lawyer will hire the services of a private investigator to find out where the exposure took place. With some research and digging, the lawyer is generally able to pinpoint the company or companies responsible for the exposure.
Again, this can take time and is another reason why it is so important to find a mesothelioma lawyer as soon as possible after the diagnosis of the cancer has been confirmed. Understandably, patients who have just been told that they have mesothelioma will have a great deal on their minds and filing a lawsuit may not be one of their priorities. However, the timely process of selecting a lawyer and filing your lawsuit can make all the difference in securing the future of your family.

Know About Equity Line Of Credit!

A home equity line of credit is a form of revolving credit in which your home serves as collateral. Because the home is likely to be a consumer's largest asset, many homeowners use their credit lines only for major items such as education, home improvements, or medical bills and not for day-to-day expenses.
With a home equity line, you will be approved for a specific amount of credit--your credit limit, the maximum amount you may borrow at any one time under the plan. Many lenders set the credit limit on a home equity line by taking a percentage (say, 75 percent) of the home's appraised value and subtracting from that the balance owed on the existing mortgage.

Kung Fu Panda

Kung Fu Panda is a 2008 animated film about a bungling panda who aspires to be a kung fu warrior. Kung Fu Panda is directed by John Stevenson and Mark Osborne and produced by Melissa Cobb. Although the concept of a kung fu panda has been around since at least 1993, the idea for the film was conceived by Michael Lachance,a DreamWorks Animation executive. Work on the film did not begin until 2004 with the film premièring at the 61st Cannes Film Festival in May 2008 and seeing general distribution in summer. The film was produced by DreamWorks Animation's studio in Glendale, California, and distributed by Paramount Pictures. The film stars the voices of Jack Black, Jackie Chan, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Lucy Liu, Seth Rogen, David Cross and Ian McShane. Dreamworks is currently in talks to make a sequel to Kung Fu Panda.
I was almost dreading seeing this movie - we won tickets to the screener and from the first scene I found myself laughing out loud. The movie is so much better than I thought it would be (and that was bad) - I expected the comedy to be slapstick/junior/potty but it wasn't. The story was also good enough to keep my kids focused glued to the screen. The animation is wonderful. Music is tasteful. I can't imagine anyone but Jack Black pulling off the voice though - he definitely made the movie for me. The only thing distracted me was that most of the movie I spent trying to figure out who was doing the voice of Tai Lung (Ian McShane). As mentioned previously in the forums about the pop culture references in this movie - I don't remember one - very nice indeed - it works with some of the other movies but I can do without. This is the first movie in a while I'd like to see again.

What Is Colorectal Cancer?

In the United States, colorectal cancer is the fourth most common cancer in men, and the fourth most common cancer in women, after skin, breast, and lung cancer. Here you'll find information on what characterizes colorectal cancer as well as a list of factors which may increase your risk for developing it.Colorectal cancer is a disease in which cells in the colon or rectum become abnormal and divide without normal control or order, forming a mass called a tumor. (The colon and rectum are parts of the body's digestive system that remove water and nutrients from food and store solid waste until it passes out of the body.) Cancer cells invade and destroy the tissue around them. They can also break away from the tumor and spread to form new tumors in other parts of the body. Colorectal cancer is the third most common type of non-skin cancer in men (after prostate cancer and lung cancer) and in women (after Breast Cancer and lung cancer). It is the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States after lung cancer. The rate of new cases and deaths resulting from this disease is decreasing. Still, over 147,000 new cases are diagnosed, and more than 57,000 people die from colorectal cancer each year.Who is at Risk? The exact causes of colorectal cancer are not known. However, studies show that certain factors are linked to an increased chance of developing colorectal cancer:Age -- Colorectal cancer is more likely to occur as people get older. Although the disease can occur at any age, most people who develop colorectal cancer are over the age of 50.Polyps -- Polyps are growths that protrude from the inner wall of the colon or rectum. They are relatively common in people over age 50. Most polyps are benign (noncancerous); however, experts believe that most colorectal cancers develop in certain polyps, called adenomas. Therefore, detecting and removing these growths may help prevent colorectal cancer. The procedure to remove polyps is called a polypectomy. Familial adenomatous polyposis, or FAP, is a rare, inherited condition in which hundreds of polyps develop in the colon and rectum. Because this condition is extremely likely to lead to colorectal cancer, it is often treated with surgery to remove the colon and rectum (colectomy). Rectum-sparing surgery may be an option. Also, the FDA has approved an anti-inflammatory drug, celecoxib, for the treatment of FAP. Doctors may prescribe this drug, in addition to surveillance and surgery, to manage FAP.Personal history -- A person who has already had colorectal cancer is at an increased risk of developing colorectal cancer a second time. Also, research studies show that some women with a history of ovarian, uterine, or Breast Cancer have a higher-than-average chance of developing colorectal cancer.Family history -- Close relatives (parents, siblings, or children) of a person who has had colorectal cancer are somewhat more likely to develop this type of cancer themselves, especially if the family member developed the cancer at a young age. If many family members have had colorectal cancer, the chances increase even more.Ulcerative colitis or Crohn's colitis -- Ulcerative colitis is a condition that causes inflammation and sores (ulcers) in the lining of the colon. Crohn's colitis (also called Crohn's disease) causes chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, most often the small intestine (the part of the digestive tract that is located between the stomach and the large intestine). People who have ulcerative colitis or Crohn's colitis may be more likely to develop colorectal cancer than people who do not have these conditions.Diet -- Some evidence suggests that the development of colorectal cancer may be associated with a diet that is high in fat and calories and low in foods with fiber, such as whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. Researchers are exploring what role these and other dietary components play in the development of colorectal cancer.Exercise -- Some evidence suggests that a sedentary lifestyle may be associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer. In contrast, people who exercise regularly may have a decreased risk of developing colorectal cancer.

Is olive oil really good for you?

Americans have developed an olive oil habit. Out to dinner recently, I saw a man dipping his white bread in olive oil and then pouring it all over his salad, saying, "Wow, this is so good for me!"But is olive oil the healthiest fat? No, it's not. You might ask, Doesn't it lower cholesterol? Well, only when you substitute olive oil in equivalent amounts for butter or oils that are higher in saturated fat. Olive oil doesn't lower cholesterol; it just doesn't raise it as much. You may be better off with canola oil. The 1999 Lyon Diet Heart Study found that a Mediterranean diet significantly reduced heart attacks and premature deaths. Many people attributed this to eating a lot of olive oil. But it was increased consumption of canola oil that accounted for these improvements. Also, study participants ate more whole-grain bread, vegetables, fish and fruit, and less meat. Butter and cream were replaced with margarine made from canola oil, which has more healthy omega-3 fatty acids than olive oil does. Another study found that olive oil reduced blood flow by 31%. Canola oil and fish oil don't. (You want to increase blood flow to all body parts.) I like the taste of olive oil, and I use it sometimes. It's a healthier fat than many others, but it's not nearly as healthy as canola oil -- or fish oil and flaxseed oil, for that matter, which also have lots of omega-3s. And a tablespoon of any oil has 126 calories. Think about that before you pour it on.

Quit Smoking! Six Weeks to Success

The following game plan is based on a smoking quit date three weeks away. If the date you choose is sooner or later, you can adapt the program to suit your own time frame.Week 1Take a Look at Your Smoking HabitsStart a smoking diary. Each day, every time you smoke, briefly record
the time.
what you're doing.
why you're using tobacco this time.
how you feel afterward. At the end of each day, review your smoking patterns. What triggers your tobacco use? Is it boredom, anger, fatigue, nervousness, or certain social situations? Look for other ways to cope with these feelings or circumstances.Week 2Change Some HabitsTell friends, family, and co-workers your quit date. Ask them to help. Review your reasons for quitting at least once a day. Change your routines so it's less convenient to smoke:
Buy cigarettes by the pack, not the carton.
Skip the afternoon Coffee break (when you would normally smoke) and go for a walk or drink a glass of juice instead.
If you normally smoke in heavy traffic, stock the car with sugarless gum or hard candy and reach for that instead.
Stay away from smoky environments.
Delay your first smoke of the day. Try to push it an hour later every three or four days. Aim to get your smoking down to less than a pack a day before your quit date. Your doctor might prescribe the antidepressant bupropion to help you accomplish this more easily. Week 3Start the Countdown! Remind folks that your quit date is nearly here. Continue to put off your first smoke of the day. Also:
Try going smoke-free for one day.
Remove the lighter from your car.
Confine your smoking to one room.
Hold your cigarette in the other hand. The night before your quit date, soak your remaining cigarettes in water and throw them in the trash. Get rid of all ashtrays, lighters, and matches. Have your nicotine-replacement products or other aids ready. Before bedtime, review your reasons for quitting. Visualize yourself victorious over tobacco, smoke-free, and healthy.Week 4Your Quit DateTake this week one day at a time. When you wake up, reread your reasons for quitting. Repeat to yourself: "I can do anything for one day." Record your feelings in your diary. Use your nicotine replacement or other aid as planned. Avoid alcohol and caffeinated drinks, which can increase your desire for nicotine. Stay away from social situations that may cue your smoking habit. Remember, craving is a normal part of withdrawal. Each craving usually lasts just a few minutes. When you have the urge to smoke, take some deep breaths and then drink a glass of water, or do some jumping jacks. Keep handy a pack of gum, some carrot sticks, or cinnamon sticks to suck on. Your goal today: No tobacco use.You may feel restless and have trouble concentrating. Hate nicotine for that. If you have trouble sleeping, eat a few spoonfuls of yogurt or drink a glass of warm milk before bed -- they contain chemicals called tryptophans that are soothing and may help you nod off.Did you make it through the day? If so, great! And tomorrow will be easier. If you didn't, don't feel guilty; it doesn't mean you're a failure. Quitting is a process, not a single event.Week 5Hang In There! Enjoy the sharper sense of smell and taste you've acquired. If nicotine withdrawal still causes sleep problems, try some deep-breathing exercises. When temptation rears its ugly head, go places (like the movies) where you're not allowed to smoke. Get lots of exercise. Use the nicotine-replacement products or prescription drugs. Continue your diary. Before you go to bed each night, celebrate being free of the nicotine demon that day. When you wake up in the morning, take a deep breath and smell the air. You are already healthier than you were last week.Week 6You're Getting There! Continue with your game plan -- it's working! Consider joining a health club. (Use the money you would have spent on tobacco.) Take a good look at yourself in the mirror. Notice the cleaner teeth, healthier skin, brighter hair. Beware of the subtle opportunities for relapse: an argument with your spouse, heavy traffic, meeting that friend you haven't seen in a while for a drink. Take it one day at a time. At the end of the week, celebrate your success, but keep your guard up. For some people it takes years to lose the craving for nicotine.

How Many of You Expect to Die?

Not long ago Dr. Joanne Lynn, a geriatrician who pulls no punches in her frequent critiques of America’s sorry system of end-of-life care, looked out from the dais of a Washington, D.C., ballroom at a sea of middle-aged faces: health policymakers, legislative staff, advocates for the aged and for family caregivers — an audience of experts.(Joanne Lynn/Rand Corp.)“How many of you expect to die?” she asked.
The audience fell silent, laughed nervously and only then, looking one to the other, slowly raised their hands.“Would you prefer to be old when it happens?” she then asked. This time the response was swift and sure, given the alternative. Then Dr. Lynn, who describes herself as an “old person in training,” offered three options to the room. Who would choose cancer as the way to go? Just a few. Chronic heart failure, or emphysema? A few more.“So all the rest of you are up for frailty and dementia?” Dr. Lynn asked. On the screen above the dais, she showed graphs describing the three most common ways that old people die and the trajectory and duration of each scenario. Cancer deaths, which peak at age 65, usually come after many years of good health followed by a few weeks or months of steep decline, according to Dr. Lynn’s data. The 20 percent of Americans who die this way need excellent medical care during the long period of high functioning, she said, and then hospice support for both patient and family during the sprint to death.

Faced With Caregiving, Even Experts Struggle

The self-help shelves at big-box book stores are sagging under the weight of how-to books for baby boomers new to the task of taking care of their frail, aging parents. These books touch all the bases: geriatric conditions, housing options, financial and legal matters, caregiver stress, government benefits, shifting family roles, national and state resources, checklists and Web sites. They are inclusive and informative, but a bit chirpy and somehow bloodless. Sadly, the most compelling narratives on eldercare are hidden away in medical and professional journals. Excruciatingly detailed and heartfelt as only first-person accounts can be, they are written by doctors, nurses, social workers, administrators of nursing homes and the like, all of whom thought they knew everything about America’s flawed and overburdened long-term care system — until they had to navigate it and found themselves just as flummoxed as the rest of us.
Some of these accounts are available on the Web sites of the journals that published them, notably the journal Health Affairs. In a section called “Narrative Matters,” Dr. Jerald Winakur, a geriatrician at the University of Texas, wrote “What Are We Going to Do With Dad?” in 2005, and two years later “Dad’s Legacy,” about the last year of his father’s life.“From my years as a geriatrician and now as the son of an ‘old old’ man,” Dr. Winakur wrote, “I recognize that there is but one inescapable truth: Our parents will become our children if they live long enough. . . . They will become dependent on us, our stronger arms, our acts of gentleness and caring. We will arrange for their meals, pay their bills, take them to their doctor’s visits, sit by their bedsides at the hospital and in the nursing home.”

Really? The Claim: A Spicy Meal Before Bed Can Disrupt Sleep

An old wives’ tale has it that a little kick to the palate before bed can lead to fitful sleep, if not nightmares. It’s the sort of wisdom that often turns out to be based on no evidence at all — or, worse, flat wrong. But in this case, it’s good advice.Research has shown over the years that a spicy meal at night can indeed lead to poor sleep. The most direct study to show this was published in The International Journal of Psychophysiology by a team of Australian researchers. The scientists recruited a group of young, healthy men and had them consume meals that contained Tabasco sauce and mustard shortly before they turned in on some evenings and nonspiced control meals on other evenings. On the nights that included spicy meals, there were marked changes in the subjects’ sleep patterns. They spent less time in both the light phase of sleep known as Stage 2 and the deep, slow-wave Stages 3 and 4. All of which meant that they experienced less sleep over all and took longer to drift off.Several things may account for the effect. An obvious possibility is indigestion. But the scientists also noted that after eating the spicy meals the subjects had elevated body temperatures during their first sleep cycles, which has been linked in other studies to poorer sleep quality.

Excruciatingly detailed and heartfelt as only first-person accounts can be, they are written by doctors, nurses, social workers, administrators of nursing homes and the like, all of whom thought they knew everything about America's flawed and overburdened long-term care system — until they had to navigate it and found themselves just as flummoxed as the rest of us.

Some of these accounts are available on the Web sites of the journals that published them, notably the journal Health Affairs. In a section called "Narrative Matters," Dr. Jerald Winakur, a geriatrician at the University of Texas, wrote "What Are We Going to Do With Dad?" in 2005, and two years later "Dad's Legacy," about the last year of his father's life."From my years as a geriatrician and now as the son of an 'old old' man," Dr. Winakur wrote, "I recognize that there is but one inescapable truth: Our parents will become our children if they live long enough. . . . They will become dependent on us, our stronger arms, our acts of gentleness and caring. We will arrange for their meals, pay their bills, take them to their doctor's visits, sit by their bedsides at the hospital and in the nursing home."

How Many of You Expect to Die?

Not long ago Dr. Joanne Lynn, a geriatrician who pulls no punches in her frequent critiques of America's sorry system of end-of-life care, looked out from the dais of a Washington, D.C., ballroom at a sea of middle-aged faces: health policymakers, legislative staff, advocates for the aged and for family caregivers — an audience of experts.
(Joanne Lynn/Rand Corp.)
"How many of you expect to die?" she asked.

The audience fell silent, laughed nervously and only then, looking one to the other, slowly raised their hands.
"Would you prefer to be old when it happens?" she then asked.
This time the response was swift and sure, given the alternative.
Then Dr. Lynn, who describes herself as an "old person in training," offered three options to the room. Who would choose cancer as the way to go? Just a few. Chronic heart failure, or emphysema? A few more.
"So all the rest of you are up for frailty and dementia?" Dr. Lynn asked.
On the screen above the dais, she showed graphs describing the three most common ways that old people die and the trajectory and duration of each scenario. Cancer deaths, which peak at age 65, usually come after many years of good health followed by a few weeks or months of steep decline, according to Dr. Lynn's data. The 20 percent of Americans who die this way need excellent medical care during the long period of high functioning, she said, and then hospice support for both patient and family during the sprint to death.

Tui Na, the Chinese Massage

Tui na is a form of Chinese manipulative therapy often used in conjunction with acupuncture, moxibustion, fire cupping, Chinese herbalism, tai chi and qigong.

"Tui na" is a hands-on-body treatment using acupressure that is a modality of Chinese medicine whose purpose is to bring the body into balance. The principles being balanced are the eight principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The practitioner may brush, knead, roll/press and rub the areas between each of the joints (known as the eight gates) to open the body's defensive chi and get the energy moving in both the meridians and the muscles.
The practitioner can then use range of motion, traction, massage, with the stimulation of acupressure points and to treat both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, as well as many non-musculoskeletal conditions. Tui na is an integral part of Traditional Chinese Medicine and is taught in TCM schools as part of formal training in Oriental medicine.
Many East Asian martial arts schools also teach tui na to their advanced students for the treatment and management of injury and pain due to training. As with many other traditional Chinese medical practices, there are several different schools with greater or lesser differences in their approach to the discipline. It is related also to Chinese massage.martial arts

Fire cupping

Fire cupping is a method of applying acupressure by creating a vacuum next to the patient's skin.[citation needed] In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) it involves placing glass, plastic, or bamboo cups on the skin with a vacuum. The therapy is used to relieve what is called "stagnation" in TCM terms, and is used in the treatment of respiratory diseases such as the common cold, pneumonia, and bronchitis. Cupping is also used to treat back, neck, shoulder, and other musculoskeletal pain. Its advocates claim it has other applications as well. This technique, in varying forms, has also been found in the folk medicine of Vietnam, the Balkans, modern Greece, Cyprus, Mexico, and Russia, among other places, including Iran where it is called 'bod-kesh' meaning literally 'pull with air'. Cupping was also commonly used as a Eastern European Jewish folk remedy, with the Yiddish name באנקעס (bankes).Cupping is also sometimes practiced in BDSM for stimulation or pain.

Method
A vacuum is created by air heated by fire in a glass cup placed flush against the patient's skin. As the air cools in the cup, a vacuum forms that pulls up on the skin, stimulating the acupressure effect.
The cups are usually roughly bell shaped with a capacity of about 4 fluid ounces. Most commonly, a total of from 8 to 12 cups are applied to the subject's back in two parallel 'vertical' columns, midway between the spine and each edge of the body, spaced about 4 inches on center within each column.
There are several ways of heating the air in the cup with fire:
One can swab rubbing alcohol (minimum 90%) into the bottom of a cup, then light it and place the cup immediately against the skin. By creating the seal the immediate loss of oxygen puts the fire out, preventing the person from being burned. The smaller the amount of alcohol, and the quicker the flame is extinguished by application of the cup, the better, so long as there is no risk of the cups falling off due to lack of a proper seal. Some experienced cuppers prefer the use of kerosine over alcohol, claiming it provides better ignition and thus greater suction.
One can hold the cup inverted over a flame (e.g. a lit candle), heating the air, then place the cup immediately against the skin. Care must be taken not to heat the glass itself. Even so, the person to whom the cup is applied will feel distinctly more heat than in the previous method.
One can ignite a flame with a small alcohol-soaked cotton wad resting on a small pad of leather or other insulating material that rests directly on the patient's skin, then place the cup immediately over the flame, putting out the fire. The quickness with which the flame is extinguished depends on the size and shape of the cup.
One can place the cup on the skin and gently heat the bottom of the cup with a flame heating the air inside, whilst leaving a small gap to allow air to escape. When the air is heated sufficiently, the gap is closed and the air is allowed to cool.
Methods 1 and 2 heat the glass to some extent and have a risk of burning the patient if not carefully executed. Method 3 risks the cotton falling off the insulating pad onto the patient's skin, and leaves the pad and cotton wadding inside the adhering cup which could be considered cumbersome.
Baby oil massaged onto the skin first causes a better seal to form, making it possible to use this therapy with less heating of the cup. It is often possible to slide the adhered cup around on the skin, preserving the suction seal as it glides. Care must be taken not to move the cup over protruding moles, skin tags, scabs, etc.

Circular cupping marks one day after treatment
The longer a cup is left on, the more of a circular mark is created. The skin pores are more open, and the patient may have a feeling reminiscent of a sunburn. An application of about 20 minutes is average, for the back; however this varies with the individual. In no case should the cups be left in place if the subject reports noticeable discomfort.
According to the American Cancer Society, "[a]vailable scientific evidence does not support cupping as a cure for cancer or any other disease".It can leave temporary unsightly marks on the skin and there is also a small risk of burns. Persons who claim this therapy to be beneficial report that its effect is a long lasting feeling of relaxation and invigoration. It is possible that whatever relief is obtained by this procedure is derived from the same principles that are employed in shiatsu massage, where instead of the outward sucking of the cups, strong inward pressure is directed at the muscles of the dorsal ribcage and abdomen

Health Qigong

In 2001 the Chinese Government showed great interest in regulating the Qigong movement. The State Sport General Administration of China founded the Chinese Health Qigong Association, as a mass-organization to popularize, spread and research Health Qigong in cooperation with the Peking Sport University. In 2003 the organization presented the newly developed four Health Qigong Exercises on the base of excellent traditional Qigong, includingYì Jīn Jīng (tendon-changing classic),Wu Qin Xi (frolics of five animals),Liu Zi Jue (the art of expiration in producing six different sounds),Ba Duan Jin (eight excellent movements),to fit the people's needs of promoting their health and body, and to develop traditional Chinese national culture further. The Chinese Health Qigong Association is a member of the All-China Sports Federation.During the process of developing the exercises, strictly scientific research methods have been followed. Primary experiments took place under supervision of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Modern Medicine, Psychology, Athletic Science and other related subjects. The Four Health Qigong Exercises can be seen as the essences from the related Qigong in various schools, inherited and developed traditional Chinese national culture. The new Health Qigong represented by the Chinese Health QiGong Association is breaking with the old tradition of family-styles and close teacher-student relation. It is hoped that the new standardisation is supporting the international spread of Qigong in the western hemisphere.Starting in September 2004 the "Health Qigong Magazine" became the association magazine of the CHQA. It is the only national health qigong publication in China; edtited through China Sports Press. After the successful 1st International Health Qigong Demonstration and Exchange in 2005 the CHQA organized in August 2007 the 2nd International Health Qigong Demonstration and Exchange in Peking including an international competition and the first Duan examination on Health Qigong. At the same time there was organized the 2007 International Symposium on Health Qigong Science where all important scientific studies have been made available to the public.

Qigong

Qigong (or ch'i kung) refers to a wide variety of traditional "cultivation" practices that involve methods of accumulating, circulating, and working with Qi or energy within the body. Qigong is sometimes mistakenly said to always involve movement and/or regulated breathing; in fact, use of special methods of focusing on particular energy centers in and around the body are common in the 'higher level' or evolved forms of Qigong. Qigong is practiced for health maintenance purposes, as a therapeutic intervention, as a medical profession, a spiritual path and/or component of Chinese martial arts. The 'qi' in 'qigong' means breath or gas in Chinese, and, by extension, 'life force', 'energy' or even 'cosmic breath'. 'Gong' means work applied to a discipline or the resultant level of skill, so 'qigong' is thus 'breath work' or 'energy work'. The term was coined in the twentieth-century and its currency, Ownby suggests, speaks of a cultural desire to separate 'cultivation' from 'superstition', to secularize and preserve valuable aspects of traditional Chinese practices.Attitudes toward the scientific basis for qigong vary markedly. Most Western medical practitioners and many practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine, as well as the Chinese government, view qigong as a set of breathing and movement exercises, with possible benefits to health through stress reduction and exercise. Others see qigong in more metaphysical terms, claiming that cosmic qi can be drawn into the body and circulated through channels (aka meridians).

Hypertension Heart Disease

This page on HealthMBA.com is about the effects of high blood pressure on the heart. Diet and lifestyle habits can have a negative effect on the cardiovascular system, leading to strain on the heart. Diagnosing and treating this cause of heart disease can greatly reduce a person's risks of stroke and heart attack.Heart disease is among the leading causes of death in modern times and is commonly caused by the condition of hypertension in the cardiovascular system. The Heart is the central driving for in the body's complex operation of organs. Each of the body's components relies on the blood stream to be supplied with nutrients and other chemicals, as well as being able flush out waste products. Blood flows through all parts of the body, so the heart has to push and pull very hard continually to ensure that the network of veins and arteries keep in good operation. Certain conditions in our health and habits can affect the operation of the heart and the flow of blood, causing strain, damage and even breakdown of the heart. One of the greatest strains on the cardiovascular system is when the blood stream carries too much fluid pressure, a condition known as arterial hypertension or simply high blood pressure over an extended period of time. Stressful situations can raise blood pressure temporarily, but if the pressure remains high over a number of weeks it causes strain and causes a higher risk of seriously life-threatening conditions such as stroke, heart attack and arterial aneurysm. One cause over the long term is over consumption of sodium, which draws extra fluid into the blood stream. Another cause is as we age the linings of the arteries lose elasticity, so they are less able to adjust to varying degrees of pressure. Another condition due to diet is where too much fat and cholesterol build up in the blood stream and a buildup of material can cause bottlenecks to constrict blood flow.Diet is very important in keep the cardiovascular system fit and efficient do do its job, and exercise also does a lot to bring the heart and blood vessels to peak efficiency and to make them robust and resilient to fend of damaging effects. Doctors can diagnose high blood pressure and determine whether it is a long term condition. They can prescribe antihypertensive drug therapy to help the heart and the other systems adjust to the condition, but a doctor will always recommend weight loss to reduce the amount of work required by the heart to supply the body with blood flow, a diet low in sodium and cholesterol, along with a regular routine of exercise to improve blood flow in the cardiovascular system. There are also some foods and natural supplements that can help to lower high blood pressure, such as fresh fruits and vegetable and foods high in natural fiber. For lifelong health and wellness it is smart to include a heart checkup along with your regular physical exams so that you can watch for signs of a struggling cardiovascular system. Finding high blood pressure early gives you time to change your diet and level of activity.

Diabetes is the name of Origin

Diabetes is an ancient disease. In 400 BC, China's first Medical Books, "The Yellow Emperor-Q" and "Lingshu" on the record "Diabetes card" Name. Medical Han Zhang Zhongjing "Synopsis" Diabetes chapter of "more than three" Symptoms have been documented. The early years of the Tang Dynasty, China's famous first words ZHEN Li Jia admitted that the urine Diabetes Patients are sweet.

The world's first confirmed and treatment of diabetes in China during the Tang Dynasty medical doctors Wang Tao. According to Wang Tao with his father became thirsty, drink volume increase, was more furuncle sore, urinating fruit flavor, and in accordance with ZHEN Li Yan "post-mortem of the Ancient and Modern", a book that: Diabetes patients merging small sweet bran tablets. So he wants to try his father urinating really is sweet. Diabetes is aimed at the development of a treatment program, complemented by changes in diet, disease control to his father. These included his experience "of Taiwan Secret," a book.

"Secrets of Taiwan" than the 10th century Arab doctor Avicenna "admitted Code" on the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes as early as 200 years. Year after 600 years before the British doctor, William Thomas mentioned the urine of patients "as their taste like sugar honey." According to research, diabetes for emperors in ancient nobility of the disease occurred in obesity, and more rich in water. Diabetes is one of the most common chronic diseases. With the improvement of people's standard of living, the aging of the population and the increase in the incidence of obesity, diabetes incidence rate was gradually rising trend. Diabetes incidence rate in China reached 2%, according to statistics, China has been diagnosed with diabetes to 40 million, and an annual increase rate of 1 million. Among them, in patients with type 1 diabetes in 10%, type 2 diabetes accounted for 90%. Type 1 diabetes patients in the five years after diagnosis of chronic few complications arise, on the contrary, Patients with type 2 diabetes had been diagnosed before chronic complications. According to statistics, 50% of newly diagnosed patients with type 2 diabetes has been in existence in one or more chronic complications, some patients because it was suffering from complications of diabetes. What is diabetes? Diabetes is due to the interaction of genetic and environmental factors caused absolute or relative insulin secretion and the target tissue insulin sensitivity decreased from protein, fat, water and electrolytes, and a series of metabolic disorder syndrome, a high blood sugar as the main indicator. Clinical typical case, there will be more urine, and more drinking, more drinking, weight loss and performance, "a little more than three" symptoms. How insulin synthesis and release? Insulin from the pancreas islet β - cell synthesis and release of a hormone. Β-cells in the nucleus of the former first proinsulin, in the role of under-cracking as proinsulin, and stored in the B-cell plasma particles, proinsulin converting enzyme in the role of decomposition of insulin and C-peptide, containing insulin and C-peptide particles were transported to the cell surface, Qualcomm Guo Yi cells spit the role of insulin and C-peptide release into the blood, thus completing the synthesis and release of insulin process. Insulin what some physiological function? Insulin is the only lower blood glucose in the hormone is the main body for synthesis of hormones, it is also called "storage hormone." Insulin can promote the use of sugar and glycogen synthesis, inhibiting non-sugar substances (fat and protein) for the different sugar; Can promote fat synthesis, inhibiting fat decomposition; Can promote protein synthesis, protein inhibit the decomposition. How is the diagnosis of diabetes? In 1999 the WHO recommended diabetes diagnostic criteria: 1, diabetes symptoms, any time of venous plasma glucose concentrations ≥ 11.1 mmol / L (mg). 2, fasting plasma glucose concentration vein ≥ 7.0 mmol / L (126mg/dl). 3, the glucose tolerance test (OGTT) 75g oral glucose two hours after the venous plasma glucose concentrations ≥ 11.1 mmol / L, respectively. The above three criteria, as long as a standard, and then again the day of the three options in a repeat of the inspection also meet standards, can be diagnosed as diabetes. What are the types of diabetes?

Cough treatment

Coughing is a protection of the human respiratory reflex action. Have a cough, because when the foreign body, irritating gas, respiratory secretions and stimulate receptors in the respiratory mucosa, impulsive afferent fibers spread through coughing central medulla, cause cough. Cough deep inspiratory action is short, a closed glottis, respiratory muscles, the diaphragm muscle and fierce rapid contraction, pulmonary hypertension gas jet out on a cough. With rapid out of the jet, the respiratory secretions or foreign body was excreted. There are many reasons for the cause coughing, except for the nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchus and lung, pleura, respiratory, ear, meninges, heart, esophagus, stomach and intestines by the vagus nerve stimulation, will be imported from central cough cough. Coughing is the main symptoms of respiratory illness, such as coughing with sputum or phlegm of the few dry cough is common in acute laryngitis, bronchitis, first; The sudden acute cough, was particularly prevalent in the bronchial foreign bodies; Chronic cough, more common in chronic bronchitis, tuberculosis. The adverse effects of cough, tracheal lesions can spread to the nearby small bronchus, the condition was worsening. In addition, severe persistent cough may affect the rest, but also easy to exhaustion, and can lead to alveolar wall elastic tissue damage induced emphysema. Pediatric Cough parents to endless troubles, the treatment of cough medicines omnipresent, is the only child of the hard cough, children and parents on the rest, some cough to have eaten meals are spit out of Mom and Dad's heart to tell the child's experts in the tightly, medication, diet, physical therapy, Aerosol treatment, home remedies and a spent one, which one can not miracles that kept the children cough troubled Mom and Dad. Parents are most concerned about, most need to be resolved is how to cough.

Why children cough

Why children cough

Pediatric Cough is a symptom, is a protective reflex action, in the respiratory tract by coughing to the "trash" ferreted out and cough with expectoration often at the same time, sputum is "garbage." So that said, coughing is a good thing, do not cough treatment, is not, when respiratory not "rubbish", the only congestion, edema, or a long-term cough stimulation, the central cough lasting in a highly excited state, then the cough is a protective effect on the reflection the action, it should be a positive cough, even protective, if severe cough, sleep and eat, but also treatment, including treatment of cough expectorant, Huatan, reducing airway mucosal edema, endometrial resume tracheal cilia role. Therefore, cough treatment is not simply taking cough medicine. First of cough primary factors. Causes for treatment before receiving good results.

cause for the treatment of cough

The viruses, bacteria and other microbial infection caused by respiratory infections, infections limited to the cricoid cartilage above (pharynx above), upper respiratory tract infection, if the infection to the development of the cricoid cartilage (pharynx below), lower respiratory tract infection, is the trachea, Extension trachea, bronchus capillary, alveolar and interstitial lung infection, if done with the tree image metaphor, the tree reverse, Shugen above the upper respiratory tract, lower respiratory tract Following is Shugen. The trunk is trachea and bronchial tree branches yes, yes capillary bronchial stem leaves, the leaves are alveolar, leaves space is the interstitial lung. The respiratory tract can be subjected to various external factors attacks in pathological changes in these external factors, is not merely viruses, bacteria, but also a variety of microorganisms, can be a variety of physical and chemical factors, environmental factors, or because the virus, bacteria and a variety of factors led to respiratory mucosa the disease, not as viruses, bacteria and the demise of various microorganisms to improve, resulting in respiratory mucosa damage its own functions, formed a durable recover cough. Therefore, it is even very senior antibiotic use also the crux of the problem difficult to treat coughs, respiratory mucosa must improve their function.

To cure cough.

cough caused diseases The anatomy parts, respiratory from top to bottom were: Frontal sinusitis, sinusitis, rhinitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis, tracheitis, bronchitis, bronchiolitis and pneumonia. According to the spectrum: pertussis, whooping cough syndrome, colds, flu, the flu, allergic cough, asthma, cardiac cough, cough types can be divided into the peripheral cough, cough center, according to traditional Chinese medicine theory can be divided into: hot and humid cough, cough Hanchuan, the heat cough, cold and cough. To address these diseases to treat, cough treatment is supporting treatment, the treatment can not cough heavy weight on the increase in cough medicine. Frontal sinusitis, sinusitis, rhinitis, pharyngitis, are more intractable diseases, the otolaryngology Branch areas, mostly in the medical and pediatric outpatient pediatric medicine, easily misdiagnosed, parents should expect to see ENT doctors, timely Removing from the causes coughing, even bronchitis, pneumonia the coughing is not necessarily all activities infection, cough recover perishable, not long-term use of antibiotics, and no long-term use of anti-viral drugs necessary. No bacteria, virus infection, long-term use of antibiotics can also increase the side effects of drugs, leukopenia, dysbacteriosis, gastric dysfunction, decreased appetite in children, the advantages of small drawbacks, is not desirable. At this time of treatment, the focus should be on the respiratory mucosa protection, restoration, rehabilitation and other functions, such as vitamin capsules AD is conducive to the restoration endometrium, drink plenty of water, indoor air humidity appropriate, to improve the motor function of cilia, thin sputum change is conducive to emit, fresh air and reduce indoor dust and reduce physical and chemical factors to stimulate and help respiratory endometrial function recovery.

Medical dispute

Medical dispute is based on medical treatment in the medical (medical institutions) and with (the patients or patients with close relatives) between medical mistakes, tort and compensation disputes. Medical dispute is usually caused by medical mistakes. Medical fault is that the medical staff at clinics and medical care activities of the fault. About rehabilitation & "institutionalized"

Red recollecting AndyWhen I pictured him heading south in his own car with the top down, it always made me laugh.Sometimes it made me sad though…Andy being gone. I have to remind myself that some birds aren’t meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice. But still the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they’re gone. I guess I just miss my friend.About rehabilitationYour files say you’ve served 40 years of a life sentence. You feel you’ve been rehabilitated?Rehabilitated? Well, now, let me see. I don’t have any ideas of what that means. It means that you are ready to rejoin society.I know what you think it means, sonny. To me it’s just a made-up word. A politician’s word so that young fellas like yourself can wear a suit and a tie and have a job. What do you really want to know?Am I sorry for what I do?Are you? There’s not a day goes by I don’t feel regret. Not because I am in here or because you think I should. I look back on the way I was then…a young stupid kid who committed that terrible crime. I want to talk to him. I want to try and talk some sense to him. Tell him the way things are. But I can’t. That kid’s long gone…and this old man is all that’s left. I got to live with that. Rehabilitated? It’s a bull-shit word. So you go on and stamp your forms, sonny, and stop wasting my time. Because to tell you the truth, I don’t give a shit.About institutionalizedHe’s just institutionalized. The man’s been in here 50 years,In here, he’s an important man…an educated man. Outside, he’s nothing. Just a used-up con with arthritis in both hands. Probably couldn’t get a library card if he tried. You know what I’m trying to say?I do believe you’re talking out of your ass.You believe whatever you want. But I tell you these walls are funny. First you hate them. Then you get used to them. Enough time passes…you get so you depend on them. That’s institutionalized.
